About Us

A Journey Through Our History, Mission, and Vision

The Foundation for Inclusive Education (FIED) is a small but impactful NGO based in Cameroon that champions inclusive education, peace, and social justice.
Led by Executive Director Nkegoah Ebenezer, it works to ensure that children, especially from vulnerable or marginalized backgrounds, have equitable access to quality schooling, especially those with disabilities.
In addition to education, the foundation supports related areas including water, sanitation, hygiene, and IT assistance, often in collaboration with community partners.
In recent years, FIED has strengthened its community-centered approach by launching targeted awareness campaigns that challenge stigmatizing attitudes toward children with disabilities and other marginalized groups. Through workshops, radio broadcasts, and school-based dialogues, the foundation engages parents, teachers, and local leaders to foster more inclusive learning environments.

FIED also prioritizes capacity-building for educators, offering training in adaptive teaching methods and basic sign language. By integrating its WASH and IT initiatives with educational access—such as installing accessible sanitation facilities in partner schools and equipping resource centers with assistive technology—the organization addresses systemic barriers holistically. These efforts have begun to shift local perceptions, with several pilot communities reporting increased school retention rates among children with disabilities and greater willingness from schools to enroll them.

In a country like Cameroon, where regional tensions and socioeconomic disparities often limit opportunities for young people, FIED recognizes that inclusive education must go hand in hand with youth empowerment and sustainable peace. Beyond the classroom, the foundation runs a growing Digital Literacy and Peacebuilding Initiative, designed to equip adolescents and young adults—especially those from conflict-affected or marginalized communities—with essential information technology skills, while simultaneously fostering a culture of nonviolence, dialogue, and civic responsibility.

Through partnerships with local community centers and schools, FIED offers hands-on IT training in areas such as basic computer operation, internet safety, digital communication, and introductory coding. These sessions are deliberately integrated with peace education modules, where participants explore topics like conflict resolution, human rights, social cohesion, and the responsible use of social media to counter hate speech and misinformation. Young people learn not only how to navigate the digital world but also how to use digital tools as a force for positive change—whether by launching awareness campaigns, documenting local peace initiatives, or accessing online learning and employment opportunities.

FIED champions access to quality, inclusive education for all children, especially those with disabilities, orphans, and vulnerable children. This pillar covers:

  • Basic education access and retention
  • Scholarships and school kits
  • Special education support and assistive technologies
  • Rights-based advocacy for inclusive schooling
  • Goal: Ensure no child is left behind, regardless of ability or background

Recognizing the connection between learning and living conditions, FIED supports community well-being through:

  • Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) education and services
  • School hygiene clubs and menstrual health support
  • Health screenings and disability awareness
  • Nutrition and psychosocial support programs
  • Goal: Create safe, healthy environments where children can grow and learn.
